First off, I would highly advise you google search hyenas and read a wiki article to update yourself on them =]
General Hyena Rules: 1)Females are almost always above males unless out numbered
Male Rules: 1)There is no such thing as "alpha" male in hyena society 2) Males are typically smaller/weaker than females 3) Males may not claim land 4) They can not 'force' breed 5) When a male cub reaches 2 years of age he is driven off
Female Rules: 1)Females can claim lands 2) The female hyena gets to pick her own mate 3) Lower ranking females generally are in the same group as the males
Breeding/Whelping Rules: 1)Hyena cubs usually try to kill eachother >:-) 2) Cubs usually have a high mortality rate (11/18 die...) 3) Whelping females have a *hard* time giving birth 4) Cubs are not weaned until 1 year of age 5) Title is inherited, if your mom is Alpha you'll be Alpha unless challenged (if your mom is low rank you're low rank too!)
